The First Seven Years

Summary of the ending pages we had for homework:
Feld speaks to Max when he goes in to get his shoes repaired. They talk about his daughter Mariam. Max agrees to call Mariam and ask her on a date. Later that day Sobel breaks his hammer by hitting it too hard and rushes out of the store. Feld gives Sobel a week off of work to cool off. After two dates with Max, Mariam says that he is boring and she does not wish to see him again. Feld becomes disappointed because he wants his daughter to have a good like with a man with a bright future. Feld goes to see Sobel to ask when he is coming back to work but Sobel replies "never". Feld soon finds out why Sobel is so angry. Sobel is in love with Mariam and was offended with Feld trying to set her up with someone else. Feld is shocked by this news and argues with Sobel telling him that "she will never marry a man so old and ugly as you". Sobel stands be the window weeping. Feld feels sorry for him and says once Mariam turns 21 years old he can "talk to her" (make his move). The next morning Feld is surprised to see that Sobel is back at the store working....waiting for his love.
