"The Scarlet Letter" is a romantic fictional story written by Nathaniel Hawthorne and published in the spring of 1850.

1) Setting: Seventeeth century in Boston, Massachusetts.

4)Symbols: 1.the scarlet letter "A" represents what Hester is known as, an adulteress.
                   2. Pearl, Hester's daughter represents her mothers sexual sin.

5)Characters: Hester- She was sent to live in america by her husband Roger Chillingsworth but he never followed her. While waiting for her husband she has an affair with reverend Dimmesdale. When she has Dimmesdale's baby she is put to shame and scorned by the town. She is forced to wear an "A" on all of her clothing and face the town members everyday for punishment.

Pearl- Hester's daughter. Pearl is a symbol of Hester's adulterism. She  was almost taken away by the govener because he felt like Hester was not a fit mother. She does'nt know who her father is.

Reverend Dimmesdale-The man who slept with Hester. When he finds out that he is the father he is afraid to be put to shame like Hester is. As the stroy goes on he begins to feel more and more guilty watching the way people treated Hester.

6) My thougths about the book:  The Scarlet Letter portrays classic examples of how publish humiliation and jugmentalness can cause self doubt. After reading this book I feel more compation and less arrogant thoughts on someone I do not know. Readng this book helps your not judge a book by its cover.

Literary Analysis "The Monkey's Paw" by W.W. Jacobs

Out of all stories i have read in school "The Monkey's Paw" has been one that i have actually enjoyed. This story is about the White family. The White family consists of Mr.white, Mrs.white and their son Herbert. One dark and gloomy night the Whites have one of their friends over, seagent morris who has served in india. Morris begins telling stories of india and pulls out a mummified monkeys paw that he says will grant a man 3 wishes. Seagent morris throws it into the fire so it cannot cause anymore pain. Mrs. white saves the paw but seagent morris warns them of it powers. The whites pay him no attention and once he leaves they sarcastically wish for two thousand pounds(money). The next morning their son Herbert goes off to work and later that day a man comes and tells them that Herbert had an accident at work and was shredded up by one of the machines, butsays  they would recieve two thousand pounds for his death. They cannot believe it and Mrs. White faits. Mrs.white has a hard time accepting her sons death and demands that Mr.white wishes for his son to come back to life. After being yelled at so much he finally does make that wish. When  Mr and Mrs white are sitting downstairs they hear a knock at the door. Mrs. white yells out "its herbert!" and runs to answer the door. Mr.white tells her not to answer the door because of the terrible damage Herberts body suffered in the machine accident. Before a Mrs. white can answer the door Mr.white wishes that herbert was gone and when Mrs. white opens the door there is no one there.

So be careful what you wish for...

Literary Analysis "Legend Of Sleepy Hollow"

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow was a book we read in class. It was my personal favorite. The Story is about a man named Ichabod Crane who moves to sleepy hollow, a town that believes heavily in ghosts and spirits. Once there Ichabod becomes a school teacher who enjoys accompaning his students home for delicious meals cooked by their mothers. Ichabod meets a girl named Katrina van tassel who is the most sought after girl in town. He falls for her great looks but is more attracted to her fathers wealth. He competes with another man named brom bones, the strongest and most talented man in the town for katrinas hand. Ichabod gets invited to a party at the Van Tassel's home.Once there he is having a great time eating all the different foods, talking and dancing with Katrina. Toward the end of the party the townsmen start telling ghost stories wich was scaring Ichabod. Brom bones saw his chance and attacked Ichabods weakness of being startled by the stories so brom told one of his own. Brom told the story of the headless hessian horseman who is said the haunt the town. He rides on a black horse whos eyes glow red and carries his head on his lap. Shaken up by the story ichabod goes home. on his way he goes through an eary forest. He is attacked and chased by The headless horseman. Ichabod tries to get across the bridge where is said to be uncrossable for the evil ghost. Once across the bridge ichabod turns around to see if he had avoided the horseman but is hit by a pumpkin thrown by the spirit. Ichabod is knocked unconctious. The story then leaves us wondering what happend to Ichabod Crane. it Doesnt come out and say it but gives hints. The town never heard from Ichabod again and Katrina ends up marrying Brom Bones. Ichabod moves to another town and becomes a lawyer.
